Chocolate Milk or Hot Chocolate – without the milk

This “Milk” is dairy free, refined sugar free, paleo, vegan, preservative, artificial flavour and stabilizer free.  But it isn’t free of amazing rich chocolatey flavour!

Chocolate Milk without the milk!

Serve chilled for a refreshing yummy treat.  Or you can gently warm this on the stove and enjoy as hot chocolate.  If you are like me, and don’t want to dirty (and wash) a pot and you have a kick ass blender, you can set to the soup setting on the blender and warm that way or blend until the friction of the blades warms the milk. Might take two minutes.
Seeing this is the coldest time of the year (Yikes – today is a balmy high of -17).  I recommend drinking it warm!

Tools needed:

  • blender
  • possibly a pot to warm milk

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups almond milk
  • 5 pitted dates  (soaked overnight would be better, but it is fine if not)
  • 2 tbsp raw cocoa powder

Mix:

Everyone in the blender!  Blend on high until dates are totally pulverized.  Enjoy!
Serve either warm from the blender, or refrigerate if you like it colder.

For a Hot Drink:

If using blender to warm, keep ‘er going until it’s as warm as you would like.  I blend and pull some for my kid.  Then I blend and warm it further for myself.  This cuts out waiting time for it to cool for the little one – who wants it now!

Or warm in a sauce pan on your stove.
